The organiser of Grammy awards 2013, as released the list of nominees for this year edition. Grammy awards is highest musical awards all over the world. For the 4th time in a decade nigeria Afrobeat singer and saxophonist Femi Kuti, was nominated for this year edition.
He was nominated in ‘World Music‘ categories for his 2013 album title ‘No Place For My Dream‘ under the record label of Knitting Factory Records.
Femi, was first nominated in 2003 but eventually lost to Panamanian salsa singer Rubén Blades, he also got another nomination in 2010 in the same category but eventually once again lost to Bela Fleck of USA. While his third nomination come in 2011 and later lost to Malian band Tinariwen for the album Tassili. In his third nomination award Legendary Femi Kuti, did not attend the event because he ‘didn’t want to raise his hopes high’.
This year category Femi Kuti, will be competing with French group Gipsy Kings, South African male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Indian musician Ravi Shankar.
Meanwhile, American rap mogul Jay Z, lead the chase in 9 different categories nominees while the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Macklemore Ryan Lewis and Legendary beat Marker Pharrell Williams are nominated in seven different categories for this year edition.
