Late Ghanaian BBC Broadcaster Komla Dumor

Leading international media house BBC launched the 2nd edition of its BBC World News Komla Dumor Award to seek out a future star of African journalism today at the Social Media Week Lagos.

The renowned international media company BBC first had a key-note presentation on  ” Radio – The Future of Story Telling? ” followed by a interactive session with panelists on ” The Future of Story Telling ” which was hosted by The Beat FM.

This initiatives idea was put together to celebrate the legacy of late Ghanaian BBC broadcaster Komla Dumor , who is a tenacious journalist with compelling storytelling, he worked tirelessly to bring a more sophisticated African narrative to the world. The BBC is committed to continuing Komla’s legacy who passed away two years ago.

The winner of first edition is Nancy Kacungira of KTN in Kenya spending three months gaining skills and experience at the BBC headquarters in New Broadcasting House in London, BBC World News continues to invest in finding young talent from Africa to tell African stories to global audiences. 

This year editions now open for applications, entrants have until 23.59GMT on 23rd March 2016 to submit. The winner will be awarded the opportunity to gain skills and experience, working with teams across BBC News during a three-month placement in London.
