Universal Music Group Signs Licensing Deal with Nigeria-Based Music Streaming Service, uduX

Following content licensing deal with Africa’s biggest music and video streaming platform BoomPlay Music late last year, Universal Music expansion in Africa continues, as Universal Music Group signs a licensing deal with Nigeria’s first domestic music and video streaming platform, uduX.

Universal Music Group inked a licensing agreement with uduX to license its catalog on its platform. udux is Nigeria’s owned music streaming service which offers users access to high-quality audio and HD music videos.

Users can only use uduX via a monthly subscription through Habiri by GTBank, a local platform for music, shopping, and lifestyle content first launched in November 2018.  The Nigerian digital music service will roll out as a stand-alone app within the next several months.

Under terms of the agreement, listeners now have access to UMG’s catalog of both Nigerian and global recording artists including Eminem, Tekno, Post Malone, Nicki Minaj, Lady Zamar, Lil Wayne, Bob Marley, Brenda Fassie, Wurld, J.Cole, Dr. Tumi, Nasty C, Hugh Masekela, Larry Gaga, Tamia, Maroon 5, Aka & Anatii, TJAN, Jah Prayzah, Nonso Bassey, Mafikizolo, Cina Soul, Ella Mai, and Mr. Eazi.

Speaking about the announcement, Chidi Okeke, CEO of Groove Platforms, the company responsible for the creation and development of uduX, said,
