World leading and largest online video streaming content platform Netflix announced that its services are now included in 130 countries, which our great nation is part of the newest country that will be enjoying the service.
Netflix services is only enjoying in 60 countries around the world. The announcement was made known to the public during opening keynote at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas. According to Harrison Weber of Venturebeat, says Netflix’s massive expansion serves as a counter to its recent slow growth in the U.S.
The arrival of Netflix in Nigeria means big threat and competition for our indigenous video content services such as iRoko, AfriNolly and others, but it too early to predict the market share.
The major obstacles with Netflix coming to Nigeria, is that their still huge prize for data connection in the country, despite the fact that the 4G companies such as Spectranet, Swift and Smile have still the market away from MTN, Glo, Airtel and Etisalat .
With the inclusion of Netflix in 130 countries such as Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and India will be enjoying the services, while 20% of world population China alongside with North Korea, Syria and Crimea are stile restricted, due to some socio-political reason or the other.
