The election petition tribunal sitting in Ibadan today, dismissed a petition filed by candidate of Accord Party, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, over the victory of governor Abiola Ajimobi during the April 11 election.
The sitting governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was returned as governor in the April 11 election conducted by INEC.
Senator Rashidi Ladoja of the Accord Party, had claimed that the elections were marred by irregularities and manipulation.
The election tribunal, presided over by Justice Muhammed Mayaki, while dismissing Ladoja’s petition, pointed out that the petitioner had not sufficiently proved that the elections were not in compliance of the Electoral Act.
He also cited an absence of expert witnesses and an inability of Ladoja’s counsel to provide sufficient proof of the allegations made.
