Founder and CEO of leading Nigeria e-Commerce shopping site Konga.com, Sim Shagaya, revealed in one of his recent interview that he did not earn a salary during the first year of the business.
He revealed in one of his recent interview with My Africa Podcast, that he did not earn salary in his first year, but received token in his second year.
“I’m totally vested in Konga, for the first year of the business, I didn’t earn a salary,” Shagaya said.
“In the second year of the business, virtually everyone was paid more than me,” he added.
Mr Sim Shagaya stated further that his salary in the second year was N125,000, a mere pittance considering his position in the company.
Shagaya is also the founder of DealDey, another successful e-commerce site. He was review by American business magazine Forbes as ”30 Entrepreneur in Africa” for 2014.
