It’s an interesting session today at the Social Media Week Lagos 2016, as top experts in music industry, stakeholders, music executives and music lovers rub minds together on the future pathway of the industry.
Leading radio station The Beat 99.9 FM holds a Music Conference 2016 session at the Social Media Week Lagos. There are several topic such as ” The Future of Music in Africa ” , ” I Know When That Music Streams .. It Can Only Mean One Thing ” and others were discussed at the music conference today.
The first session for this conference started with welcome speech from chairman of The Beat FM and Naija FM, Chris Ubosi and followed by the most interesting and interactive session of the day tagged ” The Future of Music in Africa ”.
This session has experts in music industry both internationally and locally such as Wayne Burrows (President By Storm Entertainment and he’s the person that discover late Notorious B.I.G), Obi Asika ( Chief curator of Social Media Week Lagos and Entertainment Entrepreneur) and Audu Maikori (Respectful Entertainment Lawyer and President of Chocolate City Group) and it was moderated by Chris Oluigbo.
All the panelists speaks on several issues such as clear vision of an artist, the business side of music, accessing to currency, being creative and authentic with your art , being educative about how the music business works and several issues.

The second session for the day ” I Know When That Music Streams .. It Can Only Mean One Thing ” is another interesting session and its has panelists such as Rotimi (Spinlet), Tola Odunsi (Head of Content, Cloud 9), Teju Ajani (Youtube), Efe Omorogbe and Lanre ”Sound Sultan ” Fasasi and its was moderated by Gbemi Alateru Olagbegi .
This session panelists discussed on pros and cons of the streaming music in the digital era and how to get paid, while music platforms Spinlet and Cloud 9 share some insight about their streaming platforms respectively.

The next session was when veteran musician Lanre ” eL Dee ” Dabiri share demo insight about his PLAY DATA platform. PLAY DATA is a broadcast monitoring service that shows artists statistics of how many times their music played on radio stations. The platform also help artistes to know how music lovers consumed their music and it also shows how their money was well spent by comparing it with their fellow colleagues.
During the presentation demo of his newest product eL Dee says PLAY DATA is gift he is giving back to the society, after announcing that he quit music several months ago.
The next session for the day is that of — Getting ” Paid in Full ” in this ” The Internet of Free ” Era.. This session has panelists such as Omotayo George (Manager, VAS Proposition& Promotion, MTN), Lanre ‘ Eldee ‘ Dabiri (CEO PLAYDATA), MI Abaga (CEO of Chocolate City), Chinedu Chukwuji (CEO COSON), Piriye Isokrari (CEO Aristocrat Records ) and it was moderated by Rotimi from Spinlet.
