After successful outing with the maiden edition, Ibadan Countdown Festival is back again! An annual entertainment event that showcases musical stars alongside with upcoming ones coupled with other craftsmanship display and talents to lighten the moods of fun lovers in the Yuletide season.
On Friday 10th of November, the organizers of Ibadan Countdown Festival 2017, held a press conference briefing where activities of this year edition have been shared to general public.
This year’s event is set to be more spectacular, according to the organizers: because it scheduled to run for 48 hours between Saturday 30th December 2017 and Monday 1st January 2018 and kicking off with a Grand Opening event that will include music, family games/competition, mega giveaways, and lots of food/drinks.

Activities lined up for the festival
The festival kicks off December 1 with road shows across the city and a soft opening at the mall. We will also have Ibadan DJs engaged in the “DJ Versus Show” every weekend at the mall where talented DJs will thrill audiences to a vast array of music and sounds. There will also be freestyle sessions for upcoming acts to expose themselves.
Youth, Business & Networking week (December 16 and 17)
During this week, participants will be encouraged to network amongst themselves and share ideas. Come early and form a team, you might just walk away with an amazing prize and new friends. Grow your network and influence, be you a business, a club or a movement. Visit the stands for the day to learn about the best end of year deals/offers. Get yourself the gift item that you’ve always wanted before the year runs out and listen to top business leaders and CEOs as they share advice TED-style with would-be entrepreneurs. Reekado Banks ‘Thank You’ Concert (December 22)
Reekado Banks will be hosting his ‘Thank you concert’ on this day alongside over 20 local and international artistes. All are set to perform and delight everyone with the greatest hosts and comedians on stage.
Food, Fashion, Art, Culture and Photo Exhibition weekend (December 23 and 24)
Food Weekend
Only the best of Ibadan cuisine will be on display that day. Enjoy some of the finest bars and eateries in the open ambience of the mall. Other highlights of the day include
*Country varieties – Indian food, Chinese food, Japanese food, Lebanese food, etc.
*Cultural varieties e.g. Igbo meals, Fulani meals, etc.
Fashion Weekend will be a 2-day event under the Ibadan Countdown Festival that will promote both emerging designers in Ibadan and also designers at the venue for the festival (The Palms) in collaboration with IBSFW.
DAY 1: Ankara Fusion: This will be the start of the fashion weekend, and will feature 10 carefully selected designers from Ibadan and 20 models. The 10 designers will follow the theme ‘ANKARA FUSION: the future of African fashion’ and make outfits using touches of Ankara and Aso-ofi. This will be a strictly catwalk show.
DAY 2: Runway Rhythm: This will be the end of the fashion weekend, possibly opening the show for another section of the Ibadan Countdown Festival. It will feature 5 – 7 fashion brands at the mall, paired with 5 – 7 artistes from Ibadan and using 20 models (same as previous day)
Art, Culture and Photo Exhibition Weekend

Concert and Fireworks Show (December 30 and 31)
The Countdown Festival Concert kicks off with carnival fun and fanfare.
Saturday 30th
Top Fuji musical performances across the State.
King of Fuji – We will be crowning the best Fuji artiste and he/she would walk away with a package worth over N500,000 naira (Cash prize plus promotional package). We are hereby calling on interested Fuji and Juju musicians to register via our email.
Sunday 31st
Top Gospel artistes with huge fireworks
Nigeria’s finest praise artistes will be on hand to praise visitors into the New Year, with prayers being offered just before the year ebbs out. The comic attack and the highpoint of the event – the fireworks display at midnight!
