Over the years, Nigeria music industry sector has been the faster growing and most profitable sector that increased Nigeria GDP, according to economic business analyst.
Veteran Nigeria musician Sound Sultan, in his recent interview has described Nigeria music industry has a multi-billions industry and there are a lot of money made from the Nigeria entertainment industry.
The legendary Nigeria singer, songwriter, actor, entrepreneur and record boss Sound Sultan, who has spend over a decade in music industry with 6 albums, credit dating back to his 2001 LP “Kpseeeeeeew”.
The veteran musical Sound Sultan, have thrived in the music industry over the years and have seen a lot of changes, the singer has identified the greatest change that he has experienced.
“I’m very happy that this industry has taken its turn,” The singer said. “That it has been this much of a bankable industry. I’m sure we (the music industry) are raking in billions every year, and it’s not even a joke.
“The music industry I knew way back was struggling. It was not even put to use. We were just there, trying to break through to the ears of the people in Nigeria. We were competing with foreign content massively. Because the foreign content was 80%, and we were 20% to compete with.”
The singer further talked about the prestige of the singing art and all its attendant jobs. Prior to this age, music was widely regarded as an endeavour for the dregs of the society, but that is now in the past.
“There was nothing prestigious about being a musician. When you look at the musician, they be like ‘drop-out, or never-do-well, dead-end street kid, has no other option but to grab the microphone.
“But now, even parents are advising their kids to go into music. They now understand that music is a business. It is a multi-billion dollar business that you can’t even joke with.”
