7. The Northern Bank Robbery
Stolen: $41 million
Robbers masquerading as police officers broke into the houses of two bank managers in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the week before Christmas 2004. Their families were held captive, and the bosses were told to return to work the next day as usual.
The managers let the robbers into the bank after the workday finished, when they took nearly 26.5 million British pounds and other foreign cash in the largest bank robbery in Irish history.
The case remains unsolved, and only one person has been arrested for money laundering thus far.
