Today in history King Sunny Ade, was born into royal family in Ondo State. King Sunny Ade, is a musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, a pioneer of modern world music and king of juju music.
Award wining musician King Sunny Ade, is the first African musician to be nominated for prestigious American music award Grammy Awards in 1988 and he as won various awards both locally and internationally.
His blessed with over 30’s children from different women. He had over 10 studio album to is credit and he had international recording deal in 1982 and he also had international collaboration with Manu Dibango (Wakafrika) and Stevie Wonder (played harmonica in Aura).
In 2009, King Sunny Ade, was appointed a visiting professor of music at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife. In July the same year King Sunny Adé was inducted into the Afropop Hall of Fame, at the Brooklyn African Festival in the United States.
He dedicated the award to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, has inspiration to his success in life.
