JoeBoy leaves EMPAWA, Owned by Mr Eazi
Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Joeboy is leaving the Mr. Eazi-owned EMPAWA after years of career highs. In an attempt to advance his career to the next level,
He has signed a dual agreement with Warner Music, the world’s largest music label (home to superstars like Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Burna Boy, Ckay etc).
As part of the new agreement, Joeboy will establish his own entertainment company, Young Legend, and become the latest African musician to be featured as a Warner Music flagship artist.
After five fruitful years, during which he put out two EPs (Love & Light and Body, Soul & Spirit), two albums (Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic and Body & Soul), and a slew of hit singles and features, Joeboy is leaving EMPAWA.
He had over 2 billion cumulative streams across DSPs at the time of his departure.
Joeboy will serve as CEO and Deola Jaiyesimi as Head of Label of the new Young Legend label, which will be tasked with producing the next generation of Afrobeats superstars for the international scene.
Joeboy creates a conduit to develop new musicians, following in the footsteps of Don Jazzy, Olamide, and his old label boss, Mr. Eazi.
