The fast growing music industry will all happy today for were all created by some unsung heroes, who did not benefit from their hard-working labour , that few naija artistes are benefiting from today.
Guys before moving further, did you remember Lord of Ajaza, For those who do not know him, let us juggle your memory a bit: In the 90s, Lord of Ajasa, whose real name is Olusegun Osaniyi, alongside the likes of Eedris Abdulkareem and Azadus, Lord of Ajasa was the bomb, as far as indigenous rap music was concerned.
During his blessed memory days, he headliners major concert, event and show and show is not complete without his presence. He storm the mainstream of limelight with his hit song ” Otiya” in the mid 20005.
But he and his contemporaries unsung heroes did not receive the money and endorsement at which artistes of today are seeing; and he is angry. He totally Angry that musicians of today were singing rubbish and they still get paid for that.
In one of his recent interview with one of Nigeria leading daily newspaper Punch , he said that he should be praise and also be reward for his contribution to the growing industry of today.
I pioneered indigenous rap music and today it has become lucrative and fashionable. Yet, these young musicians shy away from that fact. They try to hide it. If I don’t blow my trumpet, nobody will do it.
But I deserve an award, recognition and endorsement because a lot of people look up to me as their mentor.
Look at Eedris Abdulkareem and 9ice, for instance. I’m saying they should take care of the pioneers, but what impact have these new artistes really made in the society to deserve all the endorsements they are getting?
I mean, they sing nonsense songs while we (pioneers) do evergreen and clean music. Yet they keep discouraging us. 2face is an exception. I am okay with his brand of music, because his endorsements are well-deserved.
