Nigerian musicians Collaboration with international artistes are known as big force in the past years, which is known as an avenue whereby musicians used to checkmate their fellow colleagues in the industry on who dominate the market or run the game.
Though, in recent years things had really changed but this year there’s been a very welcome shift on the perception of international collaboration in the mind of listeners and that of our favourite musicians.
The paradigm is gradually shifting that international artistes no longer dumping leftover verses on remix that we never asked for. For this year alone, we had witness the strategy move of our favorite Nigerian musicians with their fellow international counterpart — the Wizkid with Drake joint in the ” Come Closer ” hit single and that of his just released joint with Future in ” Everytime ”, Davido on the other-side team up with Young Thug and Rae Sremmurd on ” Pere ”, D’banj alongside with Gucci Mane & Wande Coal on ” El Chapo ” off his King Don Come album.
All these artistes are actually taking these features serious, and it’s our job to access their effort. Though, Wizkid and Davido are winning the move, unlikely that of D’banj and Mr Eazi, who recently released redo remix version of his 2016 hit single ‘‘ Leg Over ” with Major Lazer which features French Montana and TY Dollar Sign.
All these artistes has pretty done well for themselves and also paved ways for the growth of African music to the world, but the question is who had the best international music collaboration in 2017 so far.
