American rap mogul , businessman and Roc Nation boss Shawn Carter, popularly know as Jay Z, has acquired Armand de Brignac champagne brand popularly known as ‘Ace of Spades’. Rap mogul who is reported to have worth around $520m by Forbes, is expanding his asset.
In one of Jay Z line from his 2005 feature on Kanye Wests’ song ‘Diamonds From Sierra Leone (Remix)’ he says
I’m not a businessman;
I’m a business, man!”.
According to press statement released out by the Sovereign Brands company said:
‘We are proud to announce that Sovereign Brands, a New York-based wine and spirits company owned by the Berish family, has sold its interest in the Armand de Brignac (Ace of Spades) Champagne brand to a new company led by the globally renowned Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter.’
In 2006, rapper Jay Z, featured golden-bottled champagne in one of his music video, and it was reported to have sold for $300, (£188) per bottle and is one of the more expensive drinks favoured by the rich and famous.
This is latest Jay Z, acquisition aside from music,which include a clothing line, restaurants, basketball franchise team and a recording label.
Yvonne Lardner, global PR and marketing spokesperson for Sovereign Brands added: ‘We have had a wonderful relationship with Jay Z throughout the years since he first discovered Armand de Brignac. He became interested in owning the brand and made us an offer we simply couldn’t refuse.’
The actual price of the purchase is not reveal to the general public.
