Despite being ranked as most populous black nation in the world and largest economy in Africa, Nigeria suffers epic embarrassment in Brazil as national anthem wrong played against Japan.
Nigeria’s Dream Team VI failed to respond to wrong national anthem being played for them in their first match against Japan,in Group B fixture of the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
As usual for every football match that their official anthem should be played before the game start, wrong national anthem was played for Nigeria’s Dream Team VI early hours today in Brazil, though all Nigerian players looked with awe, wondering ‘if that was actually for them.’
Barely minutes into the game, an announcer apologized for the mix-up in Nigeria’s anthem.This will continue to be a major talking point as Nigeria’s preparation before the games has been shrouded in controversy, due to poor arrangement from the federal government.
The Dream Team, who were stranded in Atlanta, USA, for the past few days now, but they eventually arrived five hours before their first game in this summer olympic competition.
However, the Nigerian team won the extraordinary game 5-4 with Etebo Oghenekaro getting four goals on the night against the Japan team, who fight back after interesting and outstanding performance from both team.
