American female tennis star and world NO1 Serena Williams, has crash out of this year edition of US Open Gland Slam in an historical semi-finals loses to unseeded Italian Roberta Vinci.
The pursuit for the 5th gland slam trophy comes to an end for Serena Williams, has she crashed out of the tournament in hands of unseeded Italian Roberta Vinci, who stunned her with 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the US Open semifinals for one of the greatest upsets the sport has ever seen.
This is Williams’ first loss in a Grand Slam calendar year and ended her bid for the first calendar-year Slam since 1988. Vinci ended Williams’ 2015 major streak at 26 straight matches and, going back to last year’s US Open, 33 overall.
It’s a very disappointment moment for Serena Williams because this is first time a player ranked outside the top 30 has beaten the world No. 1 in the quarterfinals or later at a grand slam.
The match was very intense and it had Serena yelling after each shot she won.
Then Roberta at one point threw her hands up when she won and basically was taunting the crowd because everyone was cheering only for Serena.
American rapper and songwriter Drake, who is in romance relationship with the tennis star was among guest that come out to show support for Serena Williams, while his song’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” Kept playing while Serena was playing yesterday, and Drake looked greats and happy and was also laughing and smiling when the song came on.
Serena’s loss, however, is going to take a lot more to get over, as she was on her way to becoming only the sixth player in history to win all four grand slams in a year. Not surprisingly, it didn’t take long for the Drake backlash to begin.
