The president of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has presented the 2017 budget in front of the joint session of National Assembly yesterday in Abuja.
President Buhari proposes N7.298 trillion 2017 budget, which is 20% increase from the 2016 budget and he even named it Budget of Recovery.
Nigeria president Buhari presented the budget to the joint national assembly with the presence of Minister of Finance or Budget & Planning and also without any publishing report of the Q1, Q2 & Q3 of the 2016 budget implementation reports.
The 2017 budget is base on a benchmark of $42.5 per barrel & 2.2 M Oil production barrels per day with exchange rate of N305 to US dollar.
President Buhari further says that the 2017 budget :
Will focus on the rapid development of infrastructure, especially rail, roads and power. Modernizing Nigeria’s railway system is a priority in the 2017 Budget. In 2016, we made a lot of progress completing financing arrangements. And also Nigerians will begin to see the tangible benefits of our Infrastructure modernization in 2017.
