Popular Africa-American entertainment and gossip platform, The Shade Room, owned by Nigerian-American Angie Nwandu, official Facebook page with strong followers of 4.m Millions as been removed by networking giant site Facebook for copyright violation.
The Shade Room is a gossip and entertainment platform, specialized on African-American movie, TV, music and reality stars, started with Instagram in 2014, before finding significant audiences on Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat. They platform was born 2 years ago to be the next Page six, and has grown to becoming biggest thing in the internet ecosystem.
According to Facebook spokesperson speaking exclusive to CNNMoney and Buzz Feed, reveals that The Shade Room was shut down by Facebook due to the fact that they are ” Violating Community Standards ”.
“Facebook is a huge driver of our internet traffic,” Angie Nwandu, The Shade Room’s founder, told BuzzFeed News. “I’m doing everything in my power to get it back up.”
A Facebook spokesperson confirmed that the social network was behind the publication’s removal for violation of its Community Standards. Pending any appeals from The Shade Room, things will remain that way.
The founder of The Shade Room, Angie Nwandu had said on Monday to Nieman Lab that although they had been reported for violations in the past, she felt they were being targeted. She was clueless to what brought the take down as she was the only one approving posts for the page.
“nothing was posted that violated any rules to my knowledge.”
“We have been targeted on [Facebook] and have been receiving numerous reports over things that don’t violate the terms,”
“The amount of reports have been excessive.”
As at the time of writing this report, Facebook has not reinstated, the page has popped up again, and the page has gathered 2,700 followers. Here’s the video they posted on their new page.
