In 2005, a birth of new urban label record was founded in the hand of hungry and energetic lawyer Audu Maikori, alongside with his brother Yahaya Maikori and his business partner Paul Okeogu, and ever since then Audu Maikori, has take the leadership of the label to another greater height.
Audu Maikori, was instrumental in growing the label to become one of the biggest and most successful urban labels in Africa.
In short the label record is arguably the biggest in Nigeria and African, while they are also knocking to take over the world at large.
At just concluded Nigeria Entertainment Conference 2015, Audu Maikori, says that he is stepping down as Chocolate City CEO, after spending 10 fruitful years at the helm affairs of the label.
Yesterday, Audu Maikori, himself announced that rap star MI Abaga , from today onward will be CEO of the label while his label mate and his protege Ice Prince will be Vice -President for the label.
Audu will assume the position of President, Chocolate City Group alongside company top executives such as Bello Osagie, Paul Okeogu and Yahaya Maikori .

However, the move for MI Abaga, as the label CEO , has been speculated several weeks ago, after the announcement of resignation of Audu, has the label CEO. But their is no confirmation for the report until yesterday announcement by Audu himself.
The assumption of MI as the CEO of the label has giving his label mate Ice Prince to void the post of the Vice President position.
The announcement of Ice Prince, has the company executives will put an end to the viral speculation of him moving away from the label.
It was also reported that he had floats his own label imprint, Super Cool Catz, and also has his head in merchandising enterprises.
The returning of MI’s brother Jesse Jagz back to the label and merging of MI’s ” Loppy Music” with Chocolate City is one company greatest move this year.
The label is home for acts such as M.I Abaga, Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz, Ruby Gyang, Pryse, Koker, Milli, Loose Kaynon, Victoria Kimani, Kahli Abdu & VHS Safari, Nosa, DJ Caise, and Dice Ailes. While also Chocolate City also handles the management of Afrobeat star, Femi Kuti.
The group currently have a compilation album titled ‘The Indestructible Choc Boi Nation’.
