On Saturday morning, Nigeria was hit with the news of the death of NFF technical Director and former Super Eagles Coach, Amodu Shuaibu, who died at 58 years old.
This was exactly 3 days since the demise of his blossom friend, partner and former super eagles coach Stephen Keshi. The late coach Amodu Shuaibu, also died in Benin City, Edo state, the same city where Stephen Keshi died.
According to close source the late coach says that he was doing fine as at yesterday and he excepted to have meeting today. However, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) reported that he complained of pains in his chest last night before going to bed, but its unfortunate that he couldn’t wake up this morning.
The late coach corpse has been deposited at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital Mortuary. He will be buried today according to Muslim rites. His corpse has already been moved to his hometown in Okpella, Edo State.

- Amodu was born on the 18th of April, 1958 in Edo State.
- He was appointed as the Technical Director of the Super Eagles in April 2016.
- Amodu was a five time Nigerian Super Eagles coach. He was first head coach between 1998–1999. He was appointed again from April 2001 to February 2002. He was head coach of the Super Eagles in 2008 and held the position until 2010. In 2014, he was re-appointed as the Nigerian head coach until 2015, replacing Stephen Keshi. Keshi returned to the role again and was later fired in July 2015 and Amodu took over again temporarily. He was appointed Technical Director of Nigeria’s National teams in May 2013.
- He was also the Technical Director of Bendel Insurance F.C.
- Some of the clubs Amodu coached include: Shooting Stars, BCC Lions, El Kanemi Warriors, Sharks F.C and the Orlando Pirates of South Africa.
- Amodu led Nigeria to win a bronze medal in the Mali 2002 and Angola 2010 African Cup of Nations games.
- He also led BCC Lions to win the 1989 FA Cup, breaking a long time jinx of Northern clubs’ inability to win the trophy.
