Over the past few weeks, their are speculations that Apple, Google, Samsung and Spotify are in talk to buy off Jay Z‘s Tidal music streaming platform. Though music business experts and I myself in the 2016 Music Business Prediction suggested that Jay Z might sell of Tidal this year, the hit is getting interesting for Tidal and his team which has recorded 3 CEO in just 2 years of existence.
Controversial, outspoken and rap mogul Kanye West is latest personality that weight on the growth of Tidal. The music entrepreneur Kanye West shared his own view on the on-going battle between streaming platforms – Apple and Jay Z’s Tidal. The streaming platform is owned by American rap mogul and music entrepreneur Jay Z alongside with several artists such as Kanye West, Beyonce, Rihanna, Madonna, Usher, Ed Sheran, Prince, Alicia Keys, Draft Punk, J.Cole and others who signed to part of the company owner at the initial stage.
However the battle for high profile exclusive songs has been interesting in the music streaming sector, but that could not save Tidal despite having exclusive right to Rihanna‘s ” ANTI “ , Kanye West‘s ” The Life of Pablo “, late Prince catalog of songs and Beyonce‘s ” Lemonade “ album could not save Tidal to close the gap with their closet competitors Apple and Spotify.
The situation right now is that Kanye cannot take it any longer on Team Tidal. He went on a rant on twitter in a bid to “broker peace between the two sides” – saying stop trying to be Steve and let the kids enjoy the music.
Over the past few months, Tidal has records 3 Million subscribers, which is against the Apple 11 Million subscribers and that of over 30 Million of Spotify.
