By tomorrow various world leaders will gathered to celebrated with Nigeria for the 100 years Centenary jubilee, While as part of the celebration by federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Gudluck Ebele Jonathan, will awarded 100 most patriotic citizen of the nation for the pasts 100 years with National Awards.
NOBEL laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, has join the growing list of eminent Nigerians that have rejected the national honours by the federal government. Professor Wole Soyinka, said that: “I would have preferred that the entire day of infamy be ignored altogether. I’m even thinking favourably of just ignoring the obscenity, then turning up at the counter-event.”
The family of late Afro Beat legend and human activists Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, son Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, has said that his family will will not honour the awards unless the government first of all apologies for the murder of his grandmother and the burning down of his father’s house Kalakuta Republic.
While on another note his the family of Late human activist and lawyer Chief Gain Fawehinmi, also reject the awards because of the inclusion of the former Nigeria head of state and dictatorship leaders Ibrahim Babangida. The lists includes the likes of Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Professor Chinua Achebe, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu, Nwankwo Kanu, Chief Mike Adenuga and Pastor Enoch Adeboye, among others.
