Legendary Nigerian musician, famous percussionist and two-times Grammy Awards winner Lekan Babalola has signed a management deal with Temple Management Company, a Nigeria’s based talent management firm.
The famous percussionist has worked with several famous musicians including late Prince, finalized the deal in London, where he is based.
However, Speaking about the new deal, Mr Babalola said he had been looking to sign on to an indigenous company, and was impressed when he saw the work Temple Management did for the concert hosted by legendary singer King Sunny Ade.
“I am delighted to work with The Temple Management Company and I strongly believe the company’s contribution to my artistic success in Nigeria and Africa is highly important and I look forward to the partnership,” Babalola said.
“I became sold when I stumbled on the impressive way that TMC executed the King Sunny Ade Sunny On Sunday Concert and I believe that TMC’s involvement is a pre-requisite for the success of my artistic career in Nigeria and Africa,” he added.
Celebrating this new the deal, Idris Olorunnimbe, the CEO/Founder of the management company, said the company will work with Lekan Babalola to plant Nigeria’s feet in the world of jazz.
Lekan Babalola won his first Grammy with Ali Farka Toure on the album “In the Heart of the Moon”, and later, in 2009, he bagged another winning for his work on Cassandra Wilson’s ‘Loverley’.
