In may 2011, King of African Music was born.

Somethings early 2011, a young, upcoming artiste David Adeleke, made entry to the Nigeria music industry, then 3 years later become one of biggest artistes in Nigeria and African.

He took Davido, to reach the ladder of biggest artistes in African and Nigeria within years of his existences in music scene: his journey to stardom started back in May 2011, when he released his first official debut single title ”Back when” which featured rapper Naeto C.

The song received massive bad review from music lover and music pundit, but young lad Davido, has received the attention he needed at that time.  He begun is the journey to stardom at the year of 19, alongside with perfect and hardworking team such as zealous manager – Asa Asika, hit beat marker Shizzi and his lively crew and hype-men – B.Red and Sina Rambo, and a whole lot of money.
He knew that money is not his problem because he is son of Nigeria  businessmen billionaires Engr Deji Adeleke, he further make the buzz of that around him. He didn’t seem bothered and didn’t shy away from his privileged background; his follow-up his hit single ‘Dami Duro’ drummed his wealthy status into our minds.

That song shot him into limelight of A-List categories of artistes in Nigeria music scene alongside the likes of D’banj, P-Square, 2face Idibia and another teenager star Wizkid. He used is family background as son of Nigeria billionaires to shot himself  into rotation repeat playlists of various urban music video stations , radio station and main stream sites in Nigeria and African.

Some says that because of his father money make him to have the fame he had within that short 3 years , but the trust of the matter is the this young lad know what he work in is life, hardworking, focused, passion ,talent, and self determine make him to stand out of the crowd.

He continue to drop more material  in the space of nine months, he had released more material than any of his peers in industry, performed at more shows, got more spins, and his career grew rapidly within those period. It could best be described as accelerated growth; never had this been done before.

Within short period after the released of his  debut single , Naija music lover started to compared him with fellow Pop star Wizkid (who had blown up a year earlier) began.

The two were compared on all fronts – talent, label strength, financial stance, and lifestyle. Tension between both acts increased their competition, with each one trying to outdo the other. Based on the same market , some people’s think that Davido had come to replace Wizkid, with both was reported to have quarrel with each other.

In April 2012, Davido went on to sign a lucrative endorsement deal with telecommunication giant MTN, which  worth N30m. Then people started to take him and his career seriously.

Hardworking Davido, released his debut album Omo Baba Olowo – The Genesis’‘ in July 2012, despite the huge marketing budget place on the album, the album received mixed reaction with any music lover described the album as average project expecting from him. He put those words and review behind himself, a he continue to released videos for some of major tracks from that album.

In early 2013, he released new single title ‘Gobe’; which later became an instant hit – the club friendly tune was on everyone’s playlist – young and old. By this time, the public’s general opinion started to change: ‘This guy is talented.

His journey into African star begun started in April 2013,  with released of another major hit track title ‘One of a kind’. The song for meanly to sell his music and his name to others African countries , with the singer naming several African countries in the chorus. The music video followed the theme of the song, highlighting several African flags.

Early this year, he released another monster single ”Aye” which received over 1 million views on YouTube within 1 month of his released.

He known what it take to enter into the Eastern and Southern African markets, two regions where only the likes of P-square, J Martins and Flavour already have a  ground. Months after, Davido moved his music and his brand  from Nigeria and Ghana into Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Liberia and turned into an international star. He finally break others Africans market by featuring on Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz, song ” Number One ” which help him to expand his music career and less down 3 months later he later released joint collaboration with South African Duo Mafikizolo, in new song titleTchelet (Good Life)”. Both those track tops various chart in African continent.

Fast forward to May 2014, in Ghana where he won ‘Best African Artiste Of The Year’ award at Ghana Music Awards 2014, On June 7, 2014, he was crowned ”Best African Artiste” and ”Best Male Artiste of the Year” at the MTV Africa Music Awards in south African and on June 29 2014, he was named ‘Best African Act’ at the BET Awards in Los Angeles.

The only problem he may have ahead of him;  is a major phenomenon that has ended the careers of some of the biggest Nigerian artistes – Longevity.
