After several weeks of speculation whether he deserve or mature for the job or not? England FA has announced the appointment of Gareth Southgate as England national team coach for the next four-years, which is reportedly around £2m a year contract.
‘I am extremely proud to be appointed England manager. However, I am also conscious getting the job is one thing, now I want to do the job successfully,’ Southgate said on his appointment.
The former english defender and 46 years old, Gareth Southgate was previously England U-21s manager but in September he was promoted to the post of interim national team manager following the sacking of Sam Allardyce‘s sack after only 67 days and one match played.
As interim manager, Southgate won his first game in charge; 2–0 against Malta. He went on to guide England to a goalless draw with Slovenia, then defeated Scotland 3–0 and drew 2–2 with Spain.
