Contrary to viral circulate online that The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) as ban the adaptation of Nigeria Novelist writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Half of a Yellow Sun movie as be as being speculated that it was ban from viewing in any cinema houses around the country.
In a statement signed out yesterday, by the Acting Head and Corporate Affairs of NFVCB, Mr Caesar Kagho, in Abuja, says that they send out letter to the organsier of the movie on May 27, 2014 explaining the status of the film and requiring the distributor to expunge or edit some clearly stated objectionable aspects of the movie.’’
It said the management of the board was yet to receive a reply from the exhibitor. It said the reply when received, might facilitate further regulatory actions as might be deemed necessary. It said the act stipulates that “a decision on a film shall ensure that such a film is not likely to undermine national security”.
The multi million dollar movie project was premiere in Lagos and United Kingdom, which also have the cast from UK-Nigeria actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nollywood stars such as Genevieve Nnaji, OC Ukeje and Veteran Nigeria singer Onyeka Onwenu.
