Nigerian politician and member of the ruling party All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, who is representing Oyo North Senatorial District, at the upper chamber of the national assembly, reportedly said APC is not a progressive party.
Senator Buhari is a serving senator under the platform of APC, asserted that his party is not progressive as people belives. He made this boldness statement during an interview with Ibadan based investigative journalist and Splash FM Ibadan presenter, Edmund Obilo.
In the said interview, Senator Buhari argued that APC is not a progressive party, but the real ‘progressive’ is in the Alliance for Democracy (AD). The ruling party APC was founded in 2013, as a coalition of other parties together such as ACN, CPC, ANPP & APGA. Although, the founding members describe the new party as a progressive and democratic ideal.
“Let’s be honest with each other. I don’t like it when people are talking from inferiority complex,” Buhari said.
“APC is not a progressive party. It’s not AD; it’s not UPN. APC is a coalition of other parties that they merged together.
“Let that sink into you. APGA from Igboland; CPC from the North; APC – part of the remnants of AD that were quarreling.
“There is AD now… If you are talking about progressive, they should go and join AD. That’s the truth.
“In politics, you can’t do it alone.
“If they are talking about monopoly, this is our party. AD is still alive.”
APC is not a progressive party… Let that sink into you.
