Leading Lagos based radio station The Beat 99.9 FM will be holding a full day of interactive discussion on the business side of music and digital marketing side of the industry in a one day event tagged ” Music Day Conference ” at this year edition of Social Media Week Lagos 2018, which is slated to run 6th of February to the 2nd of March, 2018 in Lagos.
On Wednesday the 28th of February at the Landmark Centre, Water Corporation Road, Victoria Island, Lagos, The Beat 99.9 FM will take a critical look at ‘Maximizing music as a Business with the aid of Social/Digital Media’ in an insightful event which will have the distinguished presence of the CEO of Megalectrics Ltd. (operators of the Beat 99.9fm), Mr. Chris Ubosi, giving a welcome address, among other top industry stakeholders in attendance.
The Music Day Conference will as usual, feature various Sessions with notable Panelists with a wealth of experience, drawn from the Music and Digital Media space.
General Manager, Megalectrics Limited, Mr. Deji Awokoya had earlier expressed expectations for the significant event; “this is the 5th music conference and we are proud to be facilitating the right conversations in the Nigerian music space. We have assembled thought leaders and opinion shapers in the hope that the conversations can spark debates and highlight case studies, with an overall aim of creating insights, provide ideas, trends and inspiration to help people and businesses.”
A Keynote Panel will discuss “Changing the Game: Artists as Leaders” with Panelists D’banj (Entertainer/Entrepreneur), Michael Ugwu (SONY Africa), Obi Asika (Dragon Africa), Uzoma Dozie (MD, Diamond Bank).
Other Panelists of the day will include Chinedu Chukwuji (COSON), Ezegozie Eze (Universal Music Group Africa), Seun Bankulli (Bankulli Entertainment), Ubi Franklin (Made Men Music Group) who will be speaking on the topic “Paid In Full: Fixing Music Rights for Artists”.
Others include Bizzle Osikoya (The Plug), Teju Ajani (Google/YouTube), Seyi Shay (Artiste) who will speak on a moderated session on “Maximize Your ROA – Turning Likes into Dollars”. The subject “Prenups For Artists: When Bands Agree to Disagree” will be deliberated by a panel consisting Dotun Adebayo (I.P Lawyer), Emem Ema (One Management), Brymo (Artiste), Ayomide Tayo (Pulse).
“Man’s Not Hot; How Radio and Radio Personalities Still Pioneer Pop Culture” with Panelists Folu Storms (Smooth FM), Dotun (Cool FM), Shedy Kay (Urban FM), VJ Adams (Soundcity) and “The Artist as a Brand… Defining Your Value” to be discussed by Akintunde Bada (Viacom), Oyebowale Akideinde (Boomplay Music), Godwin Tom (Godwin Tom Company), Lanre Masha (Trace Nigeria).
Each session of the Music Day Conference will be moderated by The Beat 99.9FM OAPs; Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi, Osi Osikhena, Maria Okanrende, Dami Elebe, Simi Drey, Douglas Jekan and Chin Okeke.
The “Music Conference” which is sponsored by Diamond Bank, Cintron, CREAM and CREAM Sports will run from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
Social Media Week Lagos, considered Africa’s largest digital media & tech event, heads into its 6th year after a successful 2017 edition which saw over 15,000 attendees across the week and had a global online reach of 454 million.
