1. Vladimir Putin
The President of Russia is the most powerful person on the planet. From 1999 to 2000, he served as Russia’s Prime Minister. He is thought to be one of the wealthiest politicians in the world. He has remained in power for a longer period of time, allowing him to mature.
Putin was born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) and received his law degree from Leningrad State University in 1975. Before entering politics, Putin spent 16 years as a KGB foreign intelligence officer, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
In the midst of the current Russia-Ukraine crisis, Putin issued a surprise announcement on February 24th ordering a military operation in eastern Ukraine. Local residents have been forced to escape for their lives as a result of his full-scale invasion, which has resulted in 50 casualties, including 10 locals and 40 Ukrainian forces.
In a televised speech, he admonished western countries not to intervene in Russia’s internal affairs, warning that doing so would result in “consequences they have never seen.” He went on to say that Russia’s purpose is not to occupy Ukraine, but that the Ukrainian state is responsible for the war’s repercussions.
