Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has explained why Joao Cancelo joined Bayern Munich
Following the shocking loan transfer of Portuguese international João Cancelo from Manchester City to Bayern Munich about a few days back, the City’s coach Pep Guardiola has finally revealed the real reason João left the team for another club overseer in the just-concluded transfer window.
Guardiola was speaking at a press conference ahead of the Etihad Stadium match against Tottenham on Match Day 22. He stated that his departure from the Premier League Champions was due to a lack of game time for the Portuguese.
Cancelo always wants to play, he needs to play to be happy. He wants to play every single game and hopefully, he can at Bayern. I don’t know what will happen next season with João. I won’t say a bad word, his work ethic, passion, and skills.
Cancelo joined Bayern Munich on loan for the remainder of the season during the 2023 January transfer window. The deal does, however, include a £71 million buy clause.
