Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has finally sent 2nd term ministerial nomination list to the National Assembly.
The ministerial nomination list was made known to the public through Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, who read out the president’s letter at plenary on Tuesday. The nomination consists of 43 appointments from all the geo-political zone of Nigeria, and it’s full of politicians than technocrats.
The ministerial appointments are former Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio, senior lawyer Festus Keyamo, ex-Benue governor George Akume and 40 other nominees. The lists of ex-governors Babatunde Fashola, Chris Ngige, Rotimi Amaechi, Lai Mohammed, Ogbonnaya Onu retained their slot.
The Senate President Ahmad Lawan noted that screening of the ministerial nominee will commence on Wednesday and “legislative activities will take the backstage.” Mr. Ahmad Lawan had hinted of the Senate receiving the ministerial nominee’s list last week.
The constitution of his cabinet comes almost two months after his swearing-in.
