Edmund Obilo is a journalist and Political Scientist. His Radio programme “State of the Nation” interrogates global political and economic systems and also looks at the domestic happenings that define Nigeria’s social formations.
Edmund is the Director of Research and Programmes at Bilficom Media and Systems.
Bilficom Media’s goal is to redefine the media landscape in Nigeria with convergent proactive journalism media platforms. The company owns the radio programmes ‘State of the Nation’ running on Rave FM Oshogbo, Inspiration FM, Lagos and Ibadan. More stations in Nigeria are soon to start running the programme.

Before establishing Bilficom Media in 2016, Edmund worked with Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) as a freelance reporter. He joined Splash FM in 2007 where he produced and presented Bull’s Eye, Eagle’s Eye, Village Square, Economic Searchlight and Voices. He resigned from Splash FM in 2016.
Edmund is in the vanguard of instilling good governance in Nigeria, pursuing the course with vigour not minding whose ox is gored. His approach includes exposing corruption through investigative reporting and research writing.
Knowing that the future of a country is defined by the mindsets and actions of the citizens, he is involved in advocacies for citizen action for good governance. Since 2007, he has intensely engaged policy makers, interrogating their ideas, actions and projections in a bid to strengthen Nigeria and Africans’ quest for development.
He was one of the accredited journalists that covered the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York in 2015.
He participated in the 2014 Global Media Forum in Bonn, Germany in 2014.
Edmund Obilo has a Bachelor of Engineering (BEg.) degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. He also bagged a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree (First Class) in International Relations. He has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Theatre Arts and a Master’s degree in Communication and Language Arts. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Political Science.
Edmund Obilo is married with two children.
