On Tuesday 27th of November, the management of Splash FM Ibadan announced the return of veteran broadcaster and investigative journalist Edmund Obilo back to the station through a short video uploaded the station official Instagram page.
After nine years of unflagging journalism with the Ibadan based radio station, Edmund Obilo part ways with Splash FM in 2016, for a reason best known to him. However, the noted broadcaster is now back with Splash FM, and he has finally revealed the reason for his return to Splash FM in an exclusive chat with PM Parrot in Ibadan.
The popular radio personality said that his love for Chief Adebayo Akande has ‘no boundary’ and that ‘Splash FM is my home.’
Obilo, a man with many masters’ degree also revealed that since he left the radio station, he never at any time stopped interacting with Chief Akande.
His words “I speak with Baba everytime. Infact, I used to visit him. He is my chairman anytime, any day because he loves creative and hardworking people. He is our father.
For now, I am returning to Splash FM as a freelance broadcaster and consultant. This means I am free to go about my other numerous engagements. I will, by the grace of God, go on air with my program, ‘State Affairs’ on Saturday, December 8, 2019. It will run between 8 and 11 am”.
Obilo also used the opportunity to thank all his fans, admirers and well-wishers who have one way or the other supported him through their prayers and in other ways.
“I thank everybody who wished me well. May God continue to be with them too. They should please join me on Saturdays starting from December 8 and other Saturdays on Splash FM and elsewhere too. I am a professional willing and ready to give my best to educate, inform and entertain fellow Nigerians. God will help us all.”
Edmund Obilo who hails from Imo State was the anchor of Voices and two other programs aired on Splash FM. He is also a well traveled journalist whose passion for the profession is immeasurable and is reputed to be one of the key on-air-personalities that built the Splash FM Radio brand in Nigeria.
